Meet Roxie, a Chihuahua mix. This girl is energetic and fun. She is looking for a forever home to grow up in.
In mid-April, CRT received an emergency phone call from a shelter in South Dallas. They had been chasing a very pregnant Chihuahua Momma who had been roaming the streets for months. The animal control officers had finally caught her and she was about to give birth at any time. They needed a rescue to step up and take the Mommy. One of our CRT fosters raised their hand to help and we immediately went to get her. The Momma had the puppies a few days later. Roxie and her sister Layla were sisters born in this litter.
We could tell from the moment they were born that these were not pure Chihuahua puppies. They were larger than our normal puppy size. We were curious about their heritage, so we did a DNA test on both sisters. Roxie came back 25% Chihuahua, 25% Australian Cattle Dog, 12.5% Dachshund and 37.5% mix of terrier/hound/Asian/herding. So this girl is quite diverse! And she is 100% adorable.
Roxie gets along fine with the other large dogs and small dogs in her foster home. She loves to run and play and tumble. She also loves to play with toys of all kinds. Roxie loves to run in the back yard. She is an indoor dog, but will need lots of time in the yard every day to run and stretch out. Her boundless energy would make her an excellent walking or running partner (we are just beginning to introduce her to a leash). A secure fence is a must. There are no cats in the foster home but we do not think she would do well with cats as she loves to chase.
Roxie also loves people. She is super friendly and loves everyone she meets. She runs to the door to meet you every evening. Roxie enjoys crawling up on the couch with you in the evening to watch TV. She will also get on your lap for some belly rubs! She is a large lap dog

but she loves attention.
Roxie is a true-blue loyal, smart, ever alert, and happy girl. She is a puppy and if she is not challenged, she easily becomes bored and can get into mischief. It is recommended that their forever home participate with this girl in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep her mentally and physically fit. She would love to attend puppy training as she enjoys learning and making her family happy.
Roxie is definitely a mix. She is 19 pounds and is sturdy. She has an amazing white and tan dapple pattern to her coat. She was born on April 20,2018.
Roxie is smart. She has learned to use the doggy door in her foster home. She will also use pee pee pads. Roxie is crate trained. We are beginning to introduce her to a leash so she can learn to walk properly.
Roxie has a sweet personality. She would do best in a high energy, active home. Another doggie sibling would be perfect. If you would like to adopt two, please consider adopting her sister Layla too! They would love to grow up together. Roxie would be great with children. She is NOT apartment appropriate as she is too active for an apartment.
Open you heart for a lifetime of love and companionship with Roxie.
