Meet Honey and Josie, our newest CRT rescues available for adoption. Honey and Josie are two sisters and very attached to one another. They are looking for a forever home willing to adopt them together.
Honey and Josie have experienced some tragedy in the last few months, and are looking for a family to continue the love they have experienced in their young lives. Their human passed away recently and the extended family was unable to care for them. The family reached out to CRT asking for our help in finding these sweet dogs a forever home. We are touched by their request and were happy to bring Honey and Josie into our program.
As sisters, these two girls are super bonded. Where you see one, you will see the other. They have lived their entire lives together. They love to hang around together and are truly each other's best friend.
Both Honey and Josie get along with the other small dog in their home. They have a medium energy level so they like to play a bit. Josie is the more outgoing one - the leader. And Honey is the follower. Both fit in well with the pack around them and just want to get along. We have not had them around larger dogs so are not sure how they would do. They also have begun playing with toys and enjoy that. They love going into the back yard and racing each other around the yard!
Both girls love their humans. They enjoy cuddling and being in the same room with their family. Both love belly rubs and will roll over begging for one. At our last adoption event, we discovered that Josie was quite the athlete. She wanted to be with the visitors so much, she scaled the two foot high ex-pen! She was not trying to run, she was trying to be with people and share her love! Both girls are a bit apprehensive when meeting new people and will bark at strangers as they "protect" their home and family. But once they know you are safe and welcome, they settle down and welcome you. They would be great in a laid back home with moderate activity and lots of love to share.
These girls are smart. They will go potty outside and also will use pee pee pads. They have had minimal accidents in their foster home. They will sleep in the same crate and curl up together. It warms our heart to see them cuddling at night. They want their potential family to know that they would much rather sleep in bed under the covers with you if you will let them! They have not been leash trained yet, but we believe they would enjoy walks together.
Both Honey and Josie are about 4 - 5 years old. They have many happy years ahead of them. Honey has a tan coat with a white chest area. Josie is more of a cream color. When we took these girls in, we immediately knew they loved to eat as they were chubby. We began measuring their food so they could get to the trim weight that is ideal for them. Both have made progress, but the new family will need to keep up this routine to get them there! The ideal weight for both is about 10 pounds. Honey was a plump 16 pounds when we got her and is now down to 14.5. Josie was 15 pounds when we got her and is now at 13.8. We are pround of their progress and will continue to work with them in this important health area! The foster Mom and Dad are on a human weight loss program too, so the whole house is moving towards goals together - LOL.
These girls have a sweet personality. We are looking for a family who will adopt them together as they are very bonded. We know there is a great family out there for them. They would do fine with other small dogs, or would be great as the only two dogs in the home. They love people, and we think they would do fine in an all adult home or in a home with children. They are looking for love, belly rubs and a forever life with a special family.
Open your heart for a lifetime of love and companionship with this pair.
