Pearl 5-Piece Drum Set
Black with Evans Blue Hydraulic Heads
3 Cymbals, Throne, Hardware, Sticks, etc.
Here's a good looking, great sounding 5-piece drum set from Pearl. The heads are Blue Hydraulic heads from Evans. The set includes cymbals, the throne, and all hardware. I'll throw in a few extras if they don't sell first on eBay (an instructional video, instructional drumming music book, quite a few drumstick sets, a photo of my naked ex wife, etc.)
These have been in my personal storage for the past 26 years. I bought them in Austin, Texas in 1980, I believe it was. They were new then, so I think that makes their color "Jet Black." All the heads (both main and resonance) were replaced with those awesome-looking, blue Evans Hydraulic Heads. The result was a drum set with a truly enviable sound. Read about these hydraulic heads online (just Google them). The cymbals are only midline -- Camber cymbals -- but they are the better line of Cambers from the 1980s.
(I had a professional NY City recording drummer play my set of drums a couple of times. He repeatedly told me how awesome these drums sounded; he was thoroughly impressed. I think you will be too!)
Essentially, everything is in very good cosmetic shape. There are the occasional very small rust spots here and there from gentle aging, but you really have to look hard to find them. Also, there are no serious scratches, flaws, or mars. I'm missing two rubber feet, I think -- maybe three; easily obtained from nearly any music store if you need/want them; I didn't.
Drum Sizes:
Bass - 22"
Floor Tom - 16"
Tom 1 - 13"
Tom 2 - 12"
Snare - 14"
Cymbal Widths:
High Hat - 14"
Cymbal 1 - 20"
Cymbal 2 - 16"
I bought these in Austin, Texas in 1980, I think it was, I played them as a hobbyist, just for fun, in my house. They have never been manhandled, mistreated, or unloved. After having kids, I was eventually forced to make room for the kids and all *their* stuff, so lots of *my* stuff went into storage -- including these gorgeous drums. They have been in storage for the past 25-26 years. I hate to get rid of these babies -- they are so much fun, so gorgeous, and so great sounding! But after my bitter divorce, I have to live in an apartment, so I can't play them. So I need/have to face the music and pass them on to someone else. Please, I am looking for a good, loving home for them. They are *awesome*!
I prefer local pickup only. I live in far North Dallas, near the Dallas North Toll Way and Frankford Road (just below Plano and just north of Addison). Feel free to come by and inspect them.
If you really want these drums, I will certainly consider shipping them, but I am not an expert in packaging and shipping drums. The cheapest way to ship them involves disassembling the heads, stacking the shells inside each other with padding, and using extra boxes for all the hardware and cymbals. I don't mind that so much, but I doubt you'd really want to have to put them back together and retune all the heads. But please let me know if you really want me to ship these and have any advice for me on how best to do so.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please send me an email or call me. I will do my best to answer any questions you send me.
